Which do you prefer? Vinyl vs Wood Gazebos

13ft Tiffany vinyl gazebo
There is something to be said about vinyl - It never needs painting - no termites - no dry rot
That is what my customers look forward to with there vinyl gazebo purchase. With a lifetime warranty
how could you go wrong.
Since I am writing (my opinion) about the pros and cons of both wood and vinyl, let me now give a few of the cons. Limited designs and colors - roof not waterproof - cost can be a factor, although if you are
planning at staying in your home for 12 years or longer then it may be worth the extra $$

The wood gazebos allow a certain feeling of warmth and a natural beauty that wood can only give. There are many designs and colors to choose from, and the cost is usually much lower than vinyl. The downside is wood is prone to termites and water damage, and will require painting from time to time. An upgrade from pine to redwood can help to minimize these issues.

When we installed a vinyl gazebo the installers ran a bead of silicone between each tongue and groove of the roof panels and that made the roof water tight. Just thought I'd let you know it can be done.

Preferred Vinyl, however City of West Covina turned down permitting of Amish Country 14' Vinyl pagoda on grounds it was unsafe, had to be wood. Any change in law or can structural elements be added to made them legal for be permitted? Very distressing as I know the same types and sizes are erected in other parts of California.
